Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why Horses?

  • Horses are beautiful majestic animals that are incredibly in tune with their environment and are always in the present. They are continuously observing the people they encounter and always respond honestly when they sense something. This is an invaluable resource in countless scenarios during therapy sessions.

  • I am afraid of horses, can I still benefit from this type of therapy?

  • Yes, absolutely! We provide a safe environment, fear may prove to be key in breaking through old patterns and revealing important insights . You do not need any prior knowledge/experience with horses.

  • Does Equine Connections operate year round, what about during inclement weather?

  • We operate year-round and inclement weather is not an issue since we have an indoor arena available for use at all times.

  • Will we have to ride horses?

  • That depends on your treatment plan, therapist, and most importantly you. Riding is not a requirement but does greatly improve the therapeutic experience. Trauma-focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) includes riding with the help of the Equine Professional and your therapist to develop self-regulation skills.

  • I already have experience with horses, will this be beneficial for me?

  • Yes! We interact with horses very differently than most traditional methods. We look forward to showing you horses throwing a new lens.
